Unless you’re dressing up as Ashy Larry for Halloween, being caught ashy is one of the most embarrassing things. As the weather gets cooler and the air gets drier, it can be difficult to keep your skin moisturized. I’m excited to be partnering with L’Occitane to share how I’m fighting ashiness and getting my skin ready for winter with their shea collection!
My fellow Africans have been using shea butter has been used for as a natural skin care agent. I was super impressed to find out that L’Occitane actually partners with women in Burkina Faso to sustainably source shea butter. While some companies can be exploitative to natural resources in Africa, L’Occitane has supported the development of over 26,000 Burkina women in the past 30 years through their fair trade practices. Because the shea butter is harvested using traditional Burkina methods, L’Occitane’s shea butter products have incredibly high concentrations of omega 6 and karitene, making them even better for our skin!
My favorite thing about the L’Occitane Shea Body Care range is that it’s easy to figure out which one to use during the transition from fall to winter. Each product clearly displays the percentage of shea on the label. On a super cold and dry day, I reach for the Shea Ultra Rich Body Cream (25% shea butter) that has a thick creamy consistency. For random warm days, like the ones we had at the beginning of the month, I can use the Shea Ultra Light Body Cream (5% shea butter) that has more of a fluffy whipped consistency. When I want to quickly moisturize my hands after washing, the Shea Rich Body Lotion (15% shea butter) is easy to apply and keeps me hydrated. I like to use the Shea Fabulous Shower Oil and Oil when I’m showering in the evening, because the combination keeps my skin soft and smooth through the next day!
If you’re looking for an ethically sourced body care line that will also keep you from being ashy in the streets while also contributing to the advancement of thousands of women in Africa, definitely try L’Occitane Shea Butter Body Care!
This post is in partnership with L’Occitane USA, but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the dope brands that support Klassy Kinks!
